52wkCrumpet31: Three neons

This is week 31 of Crumpet's 52 week challenge! The "rules" are very flexible and you have all week to accomplish the mani. As always, must be done on your own nails, using the colours suggested (or parts thereof).
This week's prompt: Oceanic and three neons (either each alone or combined). I chose the three neons and did a gel gradation skittlette design.

The base was a Luxio nude. On my left hand, two nails were painted in black then topped with a matte top coat. The inverted French were gradiented painted in neon pink and orange and I used the same technique for the flowers. The pinkie is a gradation of neon blue and black. Then I used a 3D technique to add some relief to the flower outlines and the French smile lines. And added Swarovski crystals for good measure!

On my right hand I created a full gradation mani from black through orange (and the tiniest bit of yellow). Note the big groovy heart crystal!! This is the first time for me to wear a larger crystal. I embedded it in clear gel and hope it will last! Though not soooo autumnal, I like the brights!!

52wkCrumpet5: 1980s design and three dark colors

This is week five of Crumpet's 52 week challenge! The "rules" are very flexible and you have all week to accomplish the mani. As always, must be done on your own nails, using the colours suggested (or parts thereof).
This week's prompt: 1980s design, and three dark colours (either each alone or combined). I combined. My immediate thought when I read 80s was neon. I wore too much neon to admit to in the 80s! Putting them together with the three dark was a challenge. But I wanted to combine as I liked the idea of three dark colours.

I started with a chevron base using three chocolate browns: piCture pOlish Malt-teaser, Zoya Louise and a Thai indie. The first step was a base of Malt-Teaser then I added the chevrons in alternating order. There is definitely a difference in the two darker shades, though the difference to the lighter shade is more apparent. I top coated when I was finished to bring the chevron together.

I don't own a lot of neon colours and the ones I do own are old – so no problems there! I decided to add small triangles bordering on the lines of the chevron in the neon colours. Alternating and mis-matching throughout the nails. The colours are: China Glaze Neon & On & On (pink), China Glaze Happy Go Lucky (yellow) and OPI Can't Find my Czechbook (blue).

Using a tiny nail art brush I drew triangles on different areas. I did one colour at a time and had to keep cleaning my brush as it got gooped up quickly. I waited a while to top coat as I didn't want the colours to smear as on some the coverage was a tad thick.

Looking forward to scrolling through the other designs! Bye girls and thanks for reading!

GOT: pink – Field of Love flowers gradient skittlette

Blatant creative plug! I had this idea for nails and a pendant, and earrings and nails (not to wear together, but designing off each other). Then I saw the pink GOT (golden oldie Thursday) prompt, and knowing Valentine's Day is on the horizon thought this would be a good time to do this. I am very happy with how everything turned out. And that is why I am up on a cloud and wanting to share!

The mani is an ABBCC skittlette, though the CCs are hard to decypher from the A. A (pinkie) is one of my oldest polishes: a mini bottle of OPI Strawberry Margarita. Been around my basket since the ark. Eeck, mini bottle! I had visions of the polish being a big gloopy mess. But no. Not super "new" but definitely applicable. The polish is very similar to China Glaze Wicked Style, a tad warmer. For the CCs I used a base of Margarita and then marbled tip layers of the heart neon to bring the heart colour back into the mani. Not a total success story, but it worked.

The BBs are my pride and joy. The gradient was a four part deal and uses all piCture pOlish holos that I have had for over a year (still complying by the got-rules!). From cuticle to tip: hope, cosmos, jealousy, kryptonite, though the main components are cosmos and jealousy. Take it back, I just got jealousy. Oh well, most have been in the stash for a year. I top coated this before continuing. Then I drew the tulip hearts (ring) and balloon (middle) with thin black strokes and filled them in with China Glaze Neon & On & On. Careful top coat over that.

I did my nails and the pendant-necklace simultaneously, but backwards! What a trip! And I was so cautious (i.e. scared) to mess up my drawings that I tread quite lightly in the beginning. So below a couple of more shots of my earrings and pendant and nails - and Harvey being nice sociable to me and watching me photograph. Here is the link to the pendant in my etsy shop (shop). Oh, my hands and arms are pretty scratched up from tiny George - rude little bugger!

Check out all the other girls below!!! And, apologies if my design doesn't fit the rules. But the pink is old, as is most of the rest and the mani is 3/5ths pink!!
